Contrasting Music Videos
Foo Fighters - Learn To Fly
An Abstract Video
In this music video, the main stereotype is of the obese people on the plane. As when the obese people are served the coffee which has accidentally been contaminated with a certain drug, it causes them to hallucinate making them see people as food.
This shows the stereotype that all obese people think about is food.
There is also the stereotype that the male flight attendant is gay.
This stereotype mainly comes from that traditionally females needed to be slim to fit down the aisle and that female flight attendants need to be clean/well-taken care of as well as welcoming.
However, stereotypically men aren't considered friendly/slim/well-taken care of, however when in the music video we see this slim/friendly man and the main representation of him is that he is a gay man.
This stereotype is not considered fair as many straight men are flight attendants and many people will stereotype them as gay. This could even make straight men feel uncomfortable as they are being stereotyped for something that they are not. This may also discourage them in wanting to pursue a career that they aspire to do due to the fear of being judged(stereotyped).

Beyoncé - Single Ladies
A Performance Video
In the music "Single Ladies" the theory of male gaze is seen as the lyrics states
"Cause if you liked it, then you should have put a ring on it"
the use of the word "it" shows that woman are being position to be visualized as an object for heterosexual male desires.
However, the way that the woman are dressed could be encouraging male gaze, on the other hand the woman could be being seen as empowering in the way that they are dressed.
On the other hand, further on in the song the lyrics state "I need no permission, did I mention?"
The lyric implies that this woman is independent and isn't being treated as an object and has the option to do whatever she wants with her life and her body."
this stereotype is not fair as woman should be able to do/dress and act however they like without having to worry about male gaze or the fear of being over powered.
One the other hand it is wrong to stereotype that all me are "male gazing".

Michael Jackson - Thriller
A Narrative Video
In the music video "Thriller" the main stereotype throughout is that the woman is seen as scared and weak, this is shown in the beginning as the female character is being protected by the masculine male.
Also, not just in "Thriller" but in many horror music videos we see the female who is mainly playing the part of a scared and weak character this is due to the stereotype that males are strong, independent where as woman are considered weak and can't protect them selves.
